Pressure Vessel Recertification Services Area

Steelhead offers recertification services for all manufacturers of pressure vessels, tanks, and cylinders

In late December 2024, Steelhead Composites received approval from the DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to operate as a certified cylinder recertification facility. With this approval, Steelhead was assigned a Requalification Identification Number (RIN) of N599 — authorizing its trained personnel to perform both visual inspections and hydrostatic testing to recertify pressure vessels for ongoing use.

Steelhead Composites is now offering this recertification service to industries across the board, including but not limited to its existing customer base. This service will be available for a wide range of pressure vessel types, including:

 • Seamless steel and aluminum alloy cylinders certified under ICC-3 standards

 • UN ISO 9809-1 and -3 vessels

 • ISO 11119 Type II, III, and IV pressure vessels

 • Various vessels certified under special permits

“As a company dedicated to innovation and safety in composite pressure vessel technology, we’re thrilled to expand our capabilities with this new service,” said Andrew Coors, CEO of Steelhead Composites. “This offering underscores our commitment to supporting industries that rely on high-quality pressure vessels while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.”

Steelhead Composites welcomes inquiries from all industries seeking pressure vessel recertification, regardless of the original manufacturer. For more information about this service or to schedule a recertification, please contact Paul Fabian at pfabian@steelheadcomposites.com.
