Orbit Series
Compact Type III COPVs
Lightweight composite pressure vessels for compact, mobile and space-constrained gas-storage applications.
The Orbit Series brings together Steelhead's compact Type III composite overwrapped pressure vessel platforms, pairing 6061-T6 aluminum liners with composite reinforcement to reduce system weight while maintaining robust high-pressure gas containment.

Compact pressure vessel platform
Three products. One compact Type III platform strategy.
Orbit Series products are designed for applications where packaging, weight and integration flexibility are central design requirements. The current family includes a 3000 PSI gas bottle, a 350 bar neck-mount COPV and a compact CNG cylinder.
Each product is optimized for a different operating envelope and integration approach. Steelhead supports customers with product selection, port and valve configuration, mounting considerations and custom pressure-vessel engineering where a standard configuration does not fit the application.

Why Orbit
Compact packaging without giving up engineering flexibility.
Lightweight Type III construction
Aluminum-lined composite construction reduces vessel mass compared with conventional all-metal high-pressure storage while maintaining a durable pressure boundary.
Multiple mounting strategies
Orbit products support compact system integration through application-specific configurations including neck mounting and conventional vessel mounting approaches.
Port and valve flexibility
Standard and custom port configurations allow engineers to match vessel interfaces to valves, pressure-relief devices and system packaging requirements.
Applications
Designed for compact and mobile gas-storage systems.
Orbit platforms can support a range of commercial applications. Product selection depends on gas, pressure, certification, mounting and system-integration requirements.
Mobile Systems
Compact high-pressure storage where minimizing vessel size and mass helps improve system packaging.
CNG Storage
Compact CNG cylinder configurations for vehicle, vessel and specialty gas-storage applications.
Industrial & Specialty Gas
Pressure-vessel options for compatible gases and systems requiring a compact Type III package.
Custom OEM Integration
Engineering support for port interfaces, mounting strategy, packaging constraints and custom configurations.
Engineering support
Need a compact vessel that does not fit a catalog configuration?
