High-Performance, Lightweight Hydrogen Pressure Vessels and Tanks

Steelhead Composites hydrogen composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs) and tanks are roughly 1/4 to 1/5 the weight of traditional tanks, are corrosion resistant, and have a useful life of up to 30 years.

We set the standard for safe and effective storage, transport, and distribution of hydrogen. Our durable pressure vessels offer either seamless aluminum (Type III) or polymeric (Type IV) construction and are completely overwrapped with epoxy-impregnated carbon fiber composite.

In service from the bottom of the ocean to the far reaches of space, our pressure vessels are built to perform for decades.

Advanced, Lightweight, and Long-Lasting: Superior Pressure Vessels

Safe, Secure, and Durable

Steelhead Composites pressure vessels offer superior strength, durability, and feature a thoroughly safe design offering predictable leak-before-burst characteristics and minimal hydrogen permeation. For extremely harsh environments like deep sea or outer space, we offer specialty abrasion and corrosion resistant materials for added performance.

Long Service Life

Exceptionally durable, high-quality materials ensure Steelhead vessels are designed to last up to 30 years and are designed to accommodate frequent fill and empty cycles.

Lightweight

Steelhead carbon fiber tanks weigh significantly less than steel tanks for the same operating pressure, allowing a greater breadth of applications. Our tanks are often 1/4 to 1/5 the weight of steel for the same volumes and operating pressures.
